FlowBiz Multiport Ball Valve

What is a Multiport Ball Valve?

A Multiport Ball Valve features more than two ports (openings) to allow fluid to be directed in multiple ways. While a standard valve simply opens or closes a single line, a multiport valve acts as a distribution hub. It can select between several flow paths, mix two different fluids, or divert a single stream into multiple directions.

Types of Multiport Configurations:

  • 3-Way Ball Valve: The most common multiport valve. It can be configured with an L-Port (for diverting flow from one inlet to one of two outlets) or a T-Port (for mixing, diverting, or bypass functions).
  • 4-Way Ball Valve: Often referred to as an X-Port or double L-port valve. These are used in highly complex systems where two different flow streams need to be managed simultaneously, such as in reversing pump systems or heat exchanger bypasses.

The FlowBiz Engineering Advantage

FlowBiz Multiport valves are designed to streamline your process by reducing the "footprint" of your piping network:

  • Integrated Design: One multiport valve can replace two or three standard ball valves, significantly reducing potential leak points and simplifying maintenance.
  • Fully Convertible Parts: Many components within the FlowBiz range are interchangeable between models, reducing your spare parts inventory.
  • Customizable End Connections: We offer the unique ability to mix end connections on a single valve—for example, having one flanged inlet with two threaded outlets.
  • No "Extra" Shut-off Required: The design allows for a positive cutoff position within the multiport cycle, eliminating the need for an additional isolation valve.

Where are Multiport Ball Valves Used?

These valves are essential in sectors where process logic requires flow diversion or blending:

  • Chemical Processing: Selecting between different storage tanks for reactor feeding.
  • Oil & Gas: Diverting product flow in manifold systems.
  • Food & Pharma: Managing Clean-in-Place (CIP) lines and ingredient mixing.
  • Pulp & Paper: Handling complex flow paths in bleaching and washing cycles.
  • Water Treatment: Directing flow through various filtration or treatment stages.
